We were founded in 2011 by two friends over a cup of coffee; one was passionate about changing the construction industry, the other loved to tell stories and grow audiences through video.

ASSISTANT EDITOR

Farringdon, London | £22,000 - £25,000 per annum

The B1M are looking for a full-time Assistant Editor, who will be responsible for researching and creating regular editorial content on construction industry topics for publication and distribution on The B1M platform. 

The ideal candidate must have a good understanding of content research and copywriting. They will also be experienced with social copy, scheduling and content creation across all of the major social networks. A deep understanding and/or passionate interest in the construction industry would be advantageous.

You will be working closely alongside our Editor, Tom Ravenscroft, Managing Director, Fred Mills and Creative Director, Tom Payne. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key part of a growing business in a highly interesting and under served sector.

The role will be a full-time position with a three month probation period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Researching relevant stories that fit with our editorial tone of voice.
  • Content writing for our website and social channels.
  • Overseeing the production process of the content that you are responsible for.
  • Creation of original social posts.
  • Co-ordinating and publishing third party content from our journalist network.
  • Reporting of social activity for editorial and branded content.

Required Skills / Experience

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively alone, managing multiple projects concurrently.
 

VIDEO EDITOR

Farringdon, London | £25,000 - £30,000 per annum

The B1M are looking for a full-time Video Editor, who will be responsible for editing content for distribution across all of The B1M’s channels.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of post production and be able to liaise with teams to create visually engaging content. They will have a great eye for detail and a broad knowledge of social media platforms, understanding how different audiences engage with content across different platforms. An understanding or interest in the construction industry would be a distinct advantage for the right candidate.

You will be working closely alongside our Managing Director, Fred Mills and Creative Director, Tom Payne. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key part of a growing business in a really interesting and underserved sector. 

YouTube knowledge and previous experience working with online content would be a distinct advantage.

The role will be a full-time position with a three month probation period. An editing show reel will be expected on application. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a test day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Editing a variety of short form videos that are consistent in tone and personality.
  • Fast and efficient editing on quick turnaround edits.
  • Exporting videos to HD YouTube and/or Facebook specification.
  • Liaising with Senior team to meet set deadlines.
  • Organising rushes from shoots, backing-up the footage and ingesting.
  • Updating the media management databases.

Required Skills / Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in short form editing - knowledge of Adobe Premiere would be an advantage.
  • Proven narrative/story telling experience.
  • After Effects and Photoshop knowledge.
  • Basic colour correction and sound mixing skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • High standards and ambitions, hardworking and reliable.
  • Independent, resourceful, pro-active, creative, organised with good timekeeping skills.
  • Able to listen and follow instructions and ask questions when not clear.
  • Knowledge of YouTube and social media best practice.
