Press Release

The B1M and Kier launch "Future Construction"

21 February 2018

The B1M has today launched a major new content partnership with Kier Group, the leading property, residential, construction and services provider.

‘Future Construction’ will explore how Kier is embracing innovation and digital technologies at a transformative time for the sector, through a series of short documentaries.

The content, produced in partnership by The B1M and Kier, will be freely distributed on YouTube and a dedicated microsite.

The first documentary, released today, looks at how Kier embraced offsite manufacturing techniques and digital tools to deliver the impressive R7; a mixed use commercial building that forms part of London’s 67-acre King’s Cross regeneration.

The scheme is just one example of the broader approach Kier takes to innovation and digital construction that is set to be documented in the coming months.

Commenting on the partnership, Mark Austin, Kier innovation director, said: “We’re excited to be starting our partnership with The B1M, which aligns with our strategic priority to embrace technology and innovation to provide enhanced solutions for our clients.

“The launch of the new ‘Future Construction’ channel reaches a global audience and gives us a great opportunity to showcase the innovations that can drive our industry forward. We’re hopeful that using this channel to share the work Kier does will inspire companies to develop new ideas and solutions in our industry.”

The announcement follows an impressive quarter for The B1M which saw the platform grow its audience to 1.2 million viewers a month and be named by YouTube as a “Creator on the Rise”.

Last month, The B1M became the world’s most subscribed-to built environment YouTube channel.

Discussing the new partnership with Kier, The B1M’s co-founder Fred Mills said:

“It’s an incredibly interesting time for our sector as businesses embrace new technologies and navigate the fast-paced digital transformation that is having such a disruptive impact. Kier have a fantastic story to tell; we are going to bring that to life and share it for others to learn from.”
